THE IMPACT OF NURSING INFORMATICS ON PATIENT OUTCOMES AND PATIENT CARE EFFICIENCIES

QUESTION

In the Discussion for this module, you considered the interaction of nurse informaticists with other specialists to ensure successful care. How is that success determined?

Patient outcomes and the fulfillment of care goals is one of the major ways that healthcare success is measured. Measuring patient outcomes results in the generation of data that can be used to improve results. Nursing informatics can have a significant part in this process and can help to improve outcomes by improving processes, identifying at-risk patients, and enhancing efficiency.

To Prepare:

Review the concepts of technology application as presented in the Resources.

Reflect on how emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence may help fortify nursing informatics as a specialty by leading to increased impact on patient outcomes or patient care efficiencies.

The Assignment:

  • In a project proposal written to the leadership of your healthcare organization, propose a nursing informatics project for your organization that you advocate to improve patient outcomes or patient-care efficiency. Your project proposal should include the following:
  • Describe the project you propose.

Identify the stakeholders impacted by this project.

Explain the patient outcome(s) or patient-care efficiencies this project is aimed at improving and explain how this improvement would occur. Be specific and provide examples.

Identify the technologies required to implement this project and explain why.

Identify the project team (by roles) and explain how you would incorporate the nurse informaticist in the project team.

  • Use APA format and include a title page and reference page.
  • Use the Safe Assign Drafts to check your match percentage before submitting your work.

Question

The Pandemic has certainly opened our eyes to the need for self-care! Even our Code has been updated to include a section on Social Workers self-care. It’s about time we take a proactive approach to balancing the tough work that we do, with our own health and life stability. Keep in mind that self-care looks different for each of us. Some of us prefer a physical activity like running, taking a hike, going to the gym, etc. Some of us unwind with a good book, getting pampered at the spa, or just listening to our favorite music. Self-care doesn’t have to be a huge time or energy consumer! Sleep is also a very important part of self-care. Many of us struggle to get good sleep when our brains are full of all that we have to do. However you unplug, and unwind, just be sure you are doing it!! As school, work, and life get busy, it’s easy to push it off. However, I assure you that you will be more productive, happier, and more relaxed in all of these areas if you are practicing self-care!

Listen to this week’s podcast:

Answer the following questions:

  1. What do you do for self-care?
  2. How might you change your nighttime routine after listening to the podcast?
  3. How much time per week do you spend engaged in self-care? Is it enough?

Walden University Study Plan

QUESTION

Based on your practice exam question results from Week 2, identify strengths and areas of opportunity and create a tailored study plan to use throughout this course to help you prepare for the national certification exam. This will serve as an action plan to help you track your goals, tasks, and progress. You will revisit and update your study plan in NRNP 6675, and you may continue to refine and use it until you take the exam.

  • Reflect on your practice exam question results from Week 2. Identify content-area strengths and opportunities for improvement.
  • Also reflect on your overall test taking. Was the length of time allotted comfortable, or did you run out of time? Did a particular question format prove difficult?

THE ASSIGNMENT

  • Based on your practice test question results, and considering the national certification exam, summarize your strengths and opportunities for improvement. Note: Your grade for this Assignment will not be derived from your test results but from your self-reflection and study plan.
  • Create a study plan for this quarter to prepare for the certification exam, including three or four SMART goals and the tasks you need to complete to accomplish each goal. Include a timetable for accomplishing them and a QUESTION of how you will measure your progress.
  • Describe resources you would use to accomplish your goals and tasks, such as ways to participate in a study group or review course, mnemonics and other mental strategies, and print or online resources you could use to study.

Past Medical History (PMH):
Patient is Diabetic, controlled with Metformin 500 mg by mouth twice a day, Lantus 15 units SC bedtime. Hypertensive, controlled with Olmesartan 20 mg by mouth once a day. Atrial Fibrillation, controlled with Rivaroxaban 15 mg by mouth once a day and bisoprolol 10 mg by mouth once a day.

Environmental science

QUESTION

Part 1. Ecological Footprint:

Last week you completed your ecological footprint. Based on that activity:

  • Discuss the findings of your Ecological Footprint activity.
  • Were you surprised by the results? Were there questions that surprised you?
  • Why do you think the calculator asked about what percentage of processed, packaged, not locally grown food you eat? What are the specific environmental impacts of agriculture?

Part 2 – Human Population

In the course of completing your ecological footprint, you learned about many of the resources used to supply our needs and absorb our waste. Unfortunately, this has led to the degradation of many of our resources which has caused environmental and human harm. As human population increases, the demand for food will also increase, yet we have a limited amount of land for production. Past practices are unsustainable and have led to issues of soil erosion, decreased fertility, salinity, water pollution, air pollution, and others. Food systems are increasingly vulnerable due to pressures on natural ecosystems and climate.
We currently produce enough food; however millions of people do not have enough to eat for various reasons including poverty, natural disasters, political violence and other geopolitical factors. This is the most basic and critical environmental challenge.

With that in mind,

  • Explain why the concept of carrying capacity is important when discussing human population growth.
  • Can the world feed a population of nearly 10 billion by 2050? Describe in detail one solution or recommendation that can lead us to sustainable food production that is also environmentally friendly.

Connecting Personally to a Writing Prompt Topic

QUESTION

Assignment Task:

In a double-entry journal (or chart), brainstorm 5 examples of when you personally experienced anxiety or stress of any kind. Write these examples on the left side of the double-entry journal. Describe what happened. You can be brief here.

On the right side of the double-entry journal, reflect on why you think you experienced the anxiety. What fears did you have? Were other people experiencing the same things and reacting the same way? What expectations did you have for yourself? Where did those expectations come from? (Did authority figures / family / peers express these expectations to you in some way? Does society communicate these expectations? Are your experiences learned behaviors?) Be specific and elaborate.

Requirements: Do not generate any portion of this assignment with the use of AI tools or editing software. All the work for this assignment should be your own. The information for this assignment should come from your own life.

You might not experience anxiety strongly. That’s awesome! You are lucky. But everyone experiences stress. If you have trouble identifying your own stress levels, make a list of stressful situations you find yourself in regardless of whether you perceive that you are stressed in those moments.

Format: The double-entry journal should be a chart that keeps ideas organized in vertical columns and with rows. The example on the left should line up with the reflection on the right. This visual organization will help your brain think more deeply about the topic

Research Methods

Question

For this discussion, you will explain how you’ve narrowed your general research question from Week 1 (or replaced it) down to a testable hypothesis. [You may want to refer to my notes on Section 3.1 for this]. With your hypothesis in hand, use the library databases to identify an empirical research report (a journal article with statistical tests) that tests your hypothesis (or a very similar one).

In your post, provide a properly formatted APA reference page citation for the article. What precisely were the hypotheses and variables evaluated in the study? How were they measured? What are some of the strengths of this study? What are some weaknesses? What conclusions did the authors reach about the hypothesis? Did they make recommendations for future researchers (you) to consider? If you were to conduct this research as a student, what would be your major limitations? (too much time, money, statistical expertise, etc.). How could you work around some of these limitations?

For your response posts (make at least two), try to help out your fellow students by evaluating how they could go about testing their hypothesis if they were actually to do the research as a student (without millions of dollars in grant funds). Where could they get data? What are some pitfalls that they should be concerned about? Keep in mind that the goal here is to show me that you can apply the information in this module to a real-world project!
