HUM2551 Ancient/Mediev Philosophy

QUESTION

I will provide you with the previous papers, and you need to continue writing. I got lower grades on the earlier papers, so I need someone who can see the feedback from the professor and the comments on my classmate’s papers and do well in writing. In addition, I will email it to the professor for feedback so you can review it and make some changes.

here are the instructions for the assignment:

Format: 8.5″x11″ pages, 1″ margins, Times New Roman font, double spaced lines, indented the first line of each paragraph. Substantial errors in spelling or grammar will result in a reduction of grade. Student name and page number may be placed in a header within the margins, but this is not required (since Canvas will tell me who each paper was submitted by). Professor name, course name, date, etc. need not be included.

File should be in .doc or .docx (Microsoft Word) format.  Note that as students of Florida Tech you have access to Microsoft Office, including via a web browser, so this should not present any difficulty. Submit the final version here, via Canvas.

Content: Your third paper should summarize your position, on a matter of philosophical import–the same matter you discussed in your first two papers. This should be done in approximately 600 words.

In some respects your paper should be much the same as your first: you should not try to summarize everything you believe–just one claim should be summarized in depth.  It may be a metaphysical claim, a value claim, or an epistemological claim, but it should be one of those! Your position may be grounded in one or both of the positions you previously explored, or it may deviate from both, but regardless your position should account for both of the positions you previously explored–for example, by synthesizing them, denying them both, or arguing that one is more plausible than the other for whatever reason. Your paper should cite few sources–obviously you should cite the original work of any philosopher you mention, but beyond that you should not use more than one or two other sources.  Your bibliography should not be included in your word count.  I do not have a citation format preference beyond “consistent.”

Your paper will be graded across four areas:

Did you identify a specific argument about metaphysics, values, or epistemology?

Did you clearly explain your argument and tie it to the work of two historically important philosophers?

Did you cite the original text(s) of those philosophers, along with no more than two other academically appropriate sources?

Is your paper grammatically correct, proofread, formatted as instructed, and otherwise linguistically coherent?

Applied Natural Sciences Speaking Notes Draft

QUESTION

Overview

An effective presentation includes a summary of the main points in  the slides, but the presenter should add additional content in the  speaker notes to help explain each point. Some presenters have the the  ability to memorize the details through cues in the outline of the  presentation, and some can even speak off the cuff. However, for this  project, you will create speaker notes for the slides in your  presentation, which is due in Module Eight. This will help you consider  the outline of your presentation and the content you want to include on  each slide.

Prompt

For this assignment, you will be drafting the speaker notes that will  accompany your 5- to 7-slide presentation. The speaker notes can be  bullet points related to each item on the slides, or more developed  paragraphs that help you fill in the details you wouldn’t include on the  slides. This choice is up to you, but either way, the speaker notes  should contain substantial details that address each of the required  parts of your presentation.

Specifically, the following critical elements must be addressed:

Provide a brief overview of the scientific background of your issue and question. How does the issue relate to the natural sciences?

Explain how the issue impacts the audience. In  other words, how is the issue relevant to members of the audience? Why  should the audience care about the response to your question or the  outcome of your hypothesis? Support your response with specific examples  from your research investigation.

Describe the empirical evidence you have to support  your conclusions about the impact of the issue on you personally and on  your audience. Support your response with specific examples from your  research investigation.

Explain why this issue is important to you personally. In other words, why did you select this issue to investigate?

  1. Illustrate how your investigation of the issue  impacted the way you thought about the issue. In other words, how did  thinking like a scientist to research, develop a question, and formulate  a hypothesis affect what you thought about the issue you selected? How  did scientific thinking change the lens through which you viewed the  issue? Support your response with specific examples from your research  investigation.

Communicate your message in a way that is tailored  to your specific audience. For instance, you could consider your  vocabulary, your audience’s potential knowledge of current natural  science (or lack thereof), and what is specifically important to the  audience. This element will not necessarily be a separate slide or step  in the process. In your notes that address the previous six prompts,  note word choices or pieces that are specifically tailored for your  audience.

U2 Responses

QUESTION

Instructions: There are 2 responses. Read each response, and write a 75 word response for each.

Response 1.) Business Statistics

  • Cause and Effect
    • 1 John 1:9 (1 John 1 | NLT Bible | YouVersion, 2015)
      • 9 But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
    • Luke 19:10(Luke 19 | NLT Bible | YouVersion, 2015)
      • 10 For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.”

Cause and Effect directly relate to my planned research paper on business incubators. We plan to report on the impact of the businesses that come through the incubator. We want to focus on the integration of ethics and the development of a sustainable business venture. The verses above represent the commitment to stamp out wickedness and the importance of integrating the Christian Worldview into the businesses that develop out of the incubator.

  • Data versus Wisdom
    • Proverbs 19:20 (Proverbs 19 | NLT Bible | YouVersion, 2015)
      • 20 Get all the advice and instruction you can, so you will be wise the rest of your life.
    • Daniel 2:21 (Daniel 2 | NLT Bible | YouVersion, 2015)
      • 21 He controls the course of world events; he removes kings and sets up other kings.

This set of verses from Proverbs and Daniel speaks to the need for mentoring and expresses another tenant of the Incubator to provide support and educational opportunities for students and faculty.

Response 2.) The mission for the Catalyst at Belhaven would be to focus on creating value for customers in the Jackson area around Belhaven University.

The Catalyst Mission:

Preparing professionals with Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Business Administration, and STEM-related field training to deliver the Right Information to the Right People at the Right Time on the Right Devices. Studying computer science and computer information systems at Belhaven will equip students with the Right Tools and the Right Experiences to be the Right Person to lead Righteously.

The chapter examines the journey of Jerry, the CIO of a multimillion-dollar technology firm. There is a need to set specific metrics such as increased revenue. The Key Performance Metrics for the Catalyst are the community impact and the number of customers and students supported by companies in the incubator. We also want to consider profit sharing and charity donations for gross sales in place of rental fees as a tax to support operations.

Personal loan acceptance

QUESTION

Universal Bank is a relatively young bank growing rapidly in terms of overall customer acquisition. The majority of these customers are liability customers (depositors) with varying sizes of relationship with the bank. The customer base of asset customers (borrowers) is quite small, and the bank is interested in expanding this base rapidly to bring in more loan business. In particular, it wants to explore ways of converting its liability customers to personal loan customers (while retaining them as depositors).

A campaign that the bank ran last year for liability customers showed a healthy conversion rate of over 9% success. This has encouraged the retail marketing department to devise smarter campaigns with better target marketing. The goal is to use k‐NN to predict whether a new customer will accept a loan offer. This will serve as the basis for the design of a new campaign.

The dataset mlba::UniversalBank contains data on 5000 customers. The data include customer demographic information (age, income, etc.), the customer’s relationship with the bank (mortgage, securities account, etc.), and the customer response to the last personal loan campaign (Personal Loan). Among these 5000 customers, only 480 (= 9.6%) accepted the personal loan that was offered to them in the earlier campaign.

Partition the data into training (60%) and holdout (40%) sets.

  1. Consider the following customer: Age = 40, Experience = 10, Income = 84, Family = 2, CCAvg = 2, Education = 2, Mortgage = 0, Securities Account = 0, CD Account = 0, Online = 1, and Credit Card = 1. Perform a k‐NN classification with all predictors except ID and ZIP code. Remember to define categorical predictors with more than two categories as factors (for k‐NN, to automatically handle categorical predictors). Create KNN model with k=1. How would this customer be classified?

Use set.seed(1) for training.

B. What is a choice of k that balances between overfitting and ignoring the predictor information? Use 5‐fold cross‐validation to find the best k.

Use set.seed(123) for cross validation

The best K for the model is saved in model$bestTune

C. Show the confusion matrics for the training and holdout data that results from using the best k. Comment on the differences and reasons.

The code example below shows how to produce the confusion matrix for the training set

cm <- confusionMatrix(predict(model, train.df), train.df$Personal.Loan)

D. Consider the following customer: Age = 40, Experience = 10, Income = 84, Family = 2, CCAvg = 2, Education = 2, Mortgage = 0, Securities Account = 0, CD Account = 0, Online = 1 and Credit Card = 1. Classify the customer using the best k.

Decision-Making for Entry Strategies and Organizational Structures

QUESTION

Module 09: Critical Thinking Assignment

How Starbucks Convinced Indians to Embrace Coffee

In Chapters 8 and 9, we reviewed several types of global expansion strategies a company can undertake when entering new markets. For this assignment, you will read a case study about Starbucks’ expansion into the Indian market (p. 413 in the textbook).

A case study is a puzzle to be solved, so before reading and answering the specific questions, develop your proposed solution by following these five steps:

Read the case study to identify the key issues and underlying issues. These issues are the principles and concepts of the course module, which apply to the situation described in the case study.

Record the facts from the case study which are relevant to the principles and concepts of the module. The case may have extraneous information not relevant to the current module. Your ability to differentiate between relevant and irrelevant information is an important aspect of case analysis, as it will inform the focus of your answers.

Describe in some detail the actions that would address or correct the situation.

Consider how you would support your solution with examples from experience or current real-life examples or cases from textbooks.

  1. Complete this initial analysis and then read the discussion questions. Typically, you will already have the answers to the questions but with a broader consideration. At this point, you can add the details and/or analytical tools required to solve the case.

Respond to, and make decisions, based on the following questions:

  1. What inspired Starbucks to venture into India? What were some of the company’s early concerns and other obstacles?
  2. How would you describe Starbucks’ approach to entering India and how Starbucks was influenced by cultural differences to adapt its offerings for the Indian market?
  3. Why did Starbucks want to enter India through a joint venture? Specifically, what benefits did Starbucks and the Tara Group both gain by partnering with one another? What synergies were present? What conflicts occurred and how were they resolved?
  4. Now, assume the role of the Director of Starbucks’ Indian strategic planning team. You have been tasked to explore the benefits and challenges of expansion into foreign countries through joint-venture partnerships. Describe the opportunities, benefits, and concerns that Starbucks might face by doing so. Summarize the cultural environment, choose an entry strategy from the text, and describe how you would implement this entry strategy. Make sure you are very detailed in your explanation.

Based on the lessons learned from Starbucks case study, what lessons would you apply to those implementing Saudi Vision 2030 as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia embarks on this multi-year strategy to attract multinational corporations?

CJA 3230-Police Organization and Administration

Question

“We are born in organizations, educated by organizations, and spend most of our lives working for organizations. We spend much of our time…playing and praying in organizations. Most of us will die in an organization and when the time comes for burial, the largest organization of all—the state—must grant official permission” Amitai Etzioni, Modern Organizations.

What are some organizations you are a member of? (list at least 4, its ok just to list these)

  1. Search the web for news stories on traffic ticket quotas and read two or three. I suggest you start with these sites, but you are welcome to use others: www.officer.com and www.policeone.com. Describe your thoughts after reviewing these resources in the form of two paragraphs including the following:

What is your opinion of traffic quotas?

As an administrator, would you enforce traffic ticket quotas at your agency?

  1. If yes, explain how you would answer critics who say quotas are unfair, etc.

If no, explain how you would adequately judge/encourage officer performance

Conduct a web search for one of the following cases (Mapp v. Ohio | Gideon v. Wainwright | Escobedo v. Illinois | Miranda v. Arizona). Describe your thoughts after reviewing this resource in the form of three paragraphs including the following:

  1. Summarize the case in one paragraph.

Discuss the significance of the case you chose as it relates to the concept of due process and its application to law enforcement (e.g., how has this situation affected law enforcement).

Examine the role of government in policing where you grew up, or where you want to work. Does the community politics take the form of a Strong Mayor, City Manager, or City Council? Describe your thoughts after locating this information in the form of two paragraphs including the following:

Identify the community and how you know its politics. Please don’t rely on personal or past knowledge, seek websites, documents or contact the city and ask.

Explain the advantages and disadvantages of the political system to law enforcement.

  1. Which would you prefer as a police administrator and why?
  2. Public interest organizations play a significant role in police accountability. The ACLU and NAACP are just a few. This website http://fundersforjustice.org/organizations/ list over 100 organizations. Visit a few that seem interesting to you. Describe your thoughts after reading this information in the form of two paragraphs including the following:

Which sites/organizations did you read about?

  1. Did they have anything in common?
  2. Did they appear anti-police, if so how did that make you feel? / If not, what were the goals of the organization?

Do you believe that these organizations are an essential part of policing, explain?

  1. Consider joining an organization.

Sponsorship Proposal

QUESTION – QUESTION

Use any one of the templates and notes attached in zip folder.

For this assignment, you will create a sponsorship proposal on behalf of the Jayhawkville United FC team that will target a major sponsor. The target sponsor can be any existing brand in any product category. Your sponsorship proposal will include:

An in-depth QUESTION – QUESTION of the relevant features of the property (Jayhawkville United FC)

A detailed QUESTION – QUESTION (psychographics, demographics, other relevant features) of JUFC’s target market(s)

  • A specific and detailed explication of the fit (target market, image, etc.) and relevance between the property and target sponsor
  • A detailed QUESTION – QUESTION of the specific inventory (assets) being offered to the target sponsor
  • The cost of the proposed sponsorship deal to the target sponsor. [While we hope to see some details and justification regarding the price points you estimate, we understand that gauging these numbers based solely on publicly available information can be challenging. Therefore, please provide estimates at whatever level of detail seems feasible. If providing only the total estimate based on existing examples is all you can do, that’s perfectly acceptable].
  • Additional Instructions:
  • A comprehensive evaluation of the target market will require reflecting on the MLS and soccer target market.

When evaluating the inventory offered, think about the specific types of benefits discussed in the textbook and the sample inventory included in the ‘Learning Resources’ for this module as well as what you know about Jayhawkville Unted FC and Jayhawkville Stadium.

Similar to your M5 Discussion post, you should estimate the cost by using elements of competitive market strategy approach (i.e., by exploring the costs of similar sponsorships in the market).

While we do not require adherence to any specific sponsorship proposal template, the proposal should be presented in the style of a business report or proposal. Below are a couple of examples for inspiration. Please note, these are just examples, and even if a template you prefer does not include a specific element outlined in the assignment prompt (e.g., discussion of fit), you still need to include it.

  • Remember, the best proposals are going to be those that are backed up with relevant facts, statistics, and a rationale for each element of the proposal. Be thorough and include at least seven outside resources. This assignment pertains to the content you learned in this module and Jayhawkville.
  • Click on the “Jayhawkville” tab in the left-hand navigation.
  • Then select the “Community” tab
  • Choose “Sports Facilities”
  • Select “Jayhawkville Stadium”

Learn more about the Jayhawkville to make informed recommendations. Don’t be afraid to get creative! (This information is in the notes zip folder which have relevant articles)

Short presentation

QUESTION

See attached as an example. This is a very short work. Only 5 pages of short slides.

You’ve been hired by Disney to create a 1920s-themed amusement park. Your task is to design an immersive and educational amusement park centered around major themes of the 1920s.

Step 1: Select TWO 1920s Theme to Research and Incorporate

  • Prohibition, Speakeasies, Organized Crime
    • The 18th Amendment to the Constitution, which came into effect in 1920, prohibited the manufacture and sale of alcohol. This led to the rise of illegal bars known as speakeasies and a surge in organized crime.
  • Flappers, Fashion, and Changing Gender Roles
    • The “flapper” was a new, liberated female archetype characterized by shorter hair, fashionable clothing, and a more independent lifestyle. This era saw significant shifts in gender roles and expectations.
  • Jazz Age & the Harlem Renaissance
    • Jazz music exploded in popularity during the 1920s, becoming the soundtrack of the era. Jazz clubs and dance halls boomed. The Harlem Renaissance was a cultural movement centered in Harlem, New York City, where African American writers, artists, musicians, and intellectuals made significant contributions to American culture.
  • Technological Advancements
    • Innovations like the automobile, radio, and motion pictures revolutionized American life and culture during the 1920s. The availability of credit allowed more Americans to purchase cars, radios, and other consumer goods.

Step 2: Design Your Park Using Google Slides, you will be responsible to generate the following for your park proposal:

  • Title Slide: Introduce the new park…pick a name and logo
  • Rides – Create exciting rides and attractions that reflect your chosen theme. These should be authentic and appropriate for the period of study, NOT 2023. Limit yourself to the architectural/engineering achievements if the 1920s. If they didn’t have it in the 1920s, you can’t pitch it.
  • Accommodations: Where are the visitors staying? Make them look and feel authentic to the frontier era.
  • Food: Plan a menu featuring frontier-inspired cuisine. Consider vegetarian and vegan options for modern park-goers.
  • Mascots: Create mascots that represent your chosen theme. These could be historical figures, animals, or even fictional characters. Make them fun and memorable!
  • Theme Song: Think of a song that replaces it’s a Small World. You can parody an existing song or write an original (don’t’ use ChatGPT…that’s just not fun). If you are parodying an existing song, identify which one. Song should have 1 verse and a refrain.
    • Example:
    • Verse
    • It’s a world of laughter
      A world of tears
      It’s a world of hopes
      And a world of fears
There’s so much that we share
      That it’s time we’re aware
    • Chorus
It’s a small world after all
    • It’s a small world after all
It’s a small world after all
It’s a small world after all
      It’s a small, small world
