YOU HAVE TO BE A GOOD DRAWER FOR THIS PROJECT Four Sketchbook Assignment
Question Description
Create a minimum of two sketches in graphite and three sketches in charcoal. They should be loose practice sketches—not finished or “polished” drawings.
- In one graphite sketch, experiment with cross contour drawing. Choose a simple subject and utilize cross contours to illustrate the illusion of depth.
- In one graphite sketch, experiment with either hatching or pointillism. Choose a simple subject and attempt to loosely record its shape and value.
- The remaining three sketches should be used for charcoal experimentation. Choose two simple subjects. Illustrate them from sight. Each sketch should have a clearly identifiable light source. Take the opportunity to experiment with your materials. Your sketches should have a visible highlight, shadows, and cast shadow.
