This article addresses the sad, but true effects of mental health on treatment by medical professionals. Research supports the mental health patients claiming that doctors do not listen to them or dismiss how they feel and chalk it up to their mental illness and not an underlying health problem. This article by Dr. Dhruv Khullar addresses just that as he recalls treating a patient that ultimately lost his life due to a cause no one could have anticipated: a heart attack.
