Researched Arguments Essay

Topic Proposal – Instructions:

First, read the Essay 2 assignment entirely and carefully.( will be attached as a document below)

After doing some preliminary research and formulating a working research question, write a substantial paragraph that proposes an essay topic on a specific controversy (length: several sentences, no more than 1 page).

Answer all questions below.

1. Describe how the topic relates to your academic field or intended career. Why, specifically, have you chosen this topic?
2. Frame your proposal with one or two specific questions you will examine in the course of researching the controversy and developing your position on it.
3. Address all of the following questions. Why does this controversy matter? To whom does it matter? Who is your audience for this paper? What kinds of sources have you consulted to begin researching your topic? What kinds of sources will you use to meet your essay’s rhetorical purpose?

While this component of Essay 2 is not graded, completing it counts toward the effort portion of the essay grade and allows me to give you feedback on focusing your topic and beginning your research.
