Discuss the role that Black chattel slavery played in American economic development and the formation of whiteness.

Essays must also have in-text citations and a works cited page.Essays that do not adhere to these standards will lose points accordingly. Additionally, essays will be graded on clarity and engagement with course materials. Essays should not merely be a summary of the course readings—the course readings should be supplemental to a through explanation and/or analysis of the chosen prompt.
