Now that you have learned how to embed an image in a document, submit a critical response where you practice rhetorically analyzing Watchmen. In this response, submit a “sample” body paragraph for Essay #2, where you choose one rhetorical strategy to analyze, such as: appeal to pathos in order to heighten the readers’ emotions; use of fallacy to help develop a character; use of literary devices, such as symbolism, to help develop the story’s themes; organizational strategies (either in plot or visual panels, or both) to help develop the story line; appeal to logos or ethos to help develop a character; etc. In this body paragraph (150-350 words), include the following:

• A topic sentence or claim that identifies which strategy is being analyzed and who is responsible (Moore, Gibbons, or Higgins). Highlight this sentence green.
• At least two examples from the story. One must include an embedded image for reference. For each example, be sure to include a parenthetical citation with Chapter, Page, and Panel numbers. Example: (Chapter III, Page 21, Panels 6-7).
• For each example, be sure to explain why it represents that rhetorical strategy and whether it was effective and why.

Please use this strategy when you analyze a case:

1. Identify and write the main issues found discussed in the case (who, what, how, where and when (the critical facts in a case).
2. List all indicators (including stated “problems”) that something is not as expected or as desired.
3. Briefly analyze the issue with theories found in your textbook or other academic materials. Decide which ideas, models, and theories seem useful. Apply these conceptual tools to the situation. As new information is revealed, cycle back to sub steps a and b.
4. Identify the areas that need improvement (use theories from your textbook) (Uploaded)
   • Specify and prioritize the criteria used to choose action alternatives.
   • Discover or invent feasible action alternatives.
   • Examine the probable consequences of action alternatives.
   • Select a course of action.
   • Design and implementation plan/schedule.
   • Create a plan for assessing the action to be implemented.

Through research from sources provided in the course and from academic and scholarly resources outside of the course, evaluate and discuss the following elements:

1.Discuss the elements of the mission and vision statements and their importance to new entrepreneurial ventures

2.Develop a mission and vision statement for a new technology venture.

3.Include a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative in each statement.

Make sure that your paper is formatted using the APA style guide. It should contain a title page, abstract, body, conclusion, and reference section. The paper should be between 750 – 1000 words long (the title page, abstract, and references section are not counted toward the word requirement).

Make sure your paper includes:

At least three references from outside the course material. You may use the supplemental readings in the week for your references. References must come from academic and scholarly journals or essays found in EBSCOhost, major news outlets, and government websites. You should not include sources such as Wikis, Yahoo Answers, eHow, and blogs.

Compare and contrast Bosley’s and Mockensturm’s narrative pieces for its impact on the audience. From your point of view which essay seems to have better public resonance?

You are required to post three short responses for each forum: Your first post should directly address the prompt. You must do this by adding your own thread. However, your second and third postings should be replies to other participants’ threads. All first postings must meet the minimum 150 words requirement for a full grade. All second and third postings must be at least a 100 words long to receive full credit. Postings should also be free from grammatical or typographical errors. Responses must certainly exhibit critical thinking and depth for a full grade. Superficial responses that serve as mere fillers to the discussions will deserve not more than 50% of the discussion grade at my own discretion. Paraphrasing or summarizing materials out of the textbook or someone else’s postings will not qualify for a grade.

Students are assigned one weekly reading assignment (ten total) to include peer-reviewed seminal or breakthrough articles specific to the upcoming lecture. Students are required to summarize the findings of the article in a single page summary (one page +/- one paragraph, single-line spacing, 11pt font) and include a comment and/or question for discussion. The comment may include how materials relate to other course concepts or examples from your own life experience. The question may address any aspect of the paper including something that was confusing or about applying the material to different contexts. The completed assignments will be submitted before the lecture when the reading will be discussed (Sunday evening by 10pm). Full credit will be given for submitting on time with reasonable content (1 point), including both summary questions and/or comment (1 point), and meeting length requirements (1 point). A brief grace period of 30 minutes or less will apply in order to account for occasional technical difficulties in submitting work. Timely submission of work is important to keep pace with the course and to allow time to review grading feedback to guide maximum performance on subsequent work.
