Reflective Journal 1: My Views on Mass Media

Write a 1-page journal entry ( 270 words or more) in which you:

1. Describe one or two (1-2) experiences with mass media (movies or television) that affected you positively or negatively, explaining when, how, and why.
2. Complete the page/word amount requirement.
3. Write with clarity, following mechanics and formatting requirements.

(PDF): In this research report, you will learn that the programs in MRM have a variety of initiatives to identify human error in aviation maintenance. The research looks at MRM from a global perspective. It also discusses that it is possible some of the programs are not achieving sufficient progress.

Instructions
The Artist’s Journey is a narrative retelling of your life as an artist. This essay should not be a list of every event in your life; it should only focus on the events that fostered your development as an artist. It should be written in the first person (using “I”). You must describe important events and experiences that made you want to be an artist. You must also explain what you have learned that has affected your artistic endeavors.

Your Artist’s Journey essay should include all of the following narrative elements:

an engaging beginning, a middle, and an end
analysis of the key events that caused you to focus on a particular art genre or major and led you to become an artist
sufficient sensory detail to engage the reader and to “show” rather than “tell” your story
details about the social or cultural environment (setting) influencing your decisions
Your essay should be 750–1250 words.Your instructor may give you a more specific length requirement.

Include your name, course number and section, the date, your instructor’s name, and a title at the top of your essay.

Use one of the following fonts: Arial, Times New Roman, Courier, or Verdana. The size of the font should be 12 point.

Review a number of current articles on wine and culinary (food) tourism, from a range of sources such as peer reviewed publications, industry associations, newspapers, journals, magazines etc… Select one article to present to the class that was published within the past 6 months. The intent of this exercise is to remain current and knowledgeable, develop secondary research skills, and to analyze and communicate your thoughts, observations and conclusions to the class. Keep your presentation lively and informed, as you need to challenge and question the intent, relevance and importance of the article.

4 students per class will be randomly selected to present their article. The presentation should be no more than 5 minutes.

You will be assessed on the following:

•Introduction/overview and intent of the article, and explain the relevance of the source

•Explain why this article is relevant/important to wine and culinary tourism – what is the article attempting to address, who is the audience, what are the key points/facts?

•Student Perspective: provide insight and observations to the article’s issues, concepts and/or view point being presented – what are the articles intended outcomes; are they achieved?

•Conclusion – what have you learned?
