Initial Post Instructions
Using the Supreme Court’s website, research one case that deals with a contentious issue of your choice. (These issues can be racial discrimination, right to bear arms, same-sex marriage, hate speech, suicide, etc.) After finding a case, describe the Constitutional issue at the heart of the case. Summarize the points, the opinion, and at least one dissent used to come up with their conclusions. Did you agree with the majority opinion or the dissent?

What would Terrie Moffitt have to say about selective incarceration of habitual criminals? What would be the basis of their argument and what treatment programs (if any) would they recommend for these offenders?

What would Dr. Moffitt say about juvenile delinquents and the potential treatment programs (if any) that should be recommended for both hardcore and minor offenders?

What would this same theorist say about “at-risk” youth in preschool and early elementary school and what types of treatment considerations would likely be given to children in this age-range to prevent potential criminality in their later years?

Lastly, explain how longitudinal research could assess the validity of these programs in their ability to detect likely career criminals and in their ability to reduce the number of habitual offenders in America’s future prison systems.

Decision Science is a wide field. In this course, you will undertake a project to dive a little deeper into an area of interest to you, and then you will share your insights in a presentation to the class. This discussion is designed to help you get started formulating that project, and to see what your classmates are interested in. Using the concepts and links provided in the presentation “Overview of Decision Science” as a starting point, spend about 20 minutes or more searching the internet. Contribute to the discussion listing 2 or 3 areas of decision science you are interested in exploring more deeply in your project. Your post can be brief, but it should clearly identify your interest and explain why you find the topic interesting.

Fifth: long quote explaining the artist mentality

and put a maximum 5 minute video on the artist relevant to the presentation
