Topic: Informed Consent

In this learning activity, you will develop an informed consent as part of an ethical treatment of program participants. An informed consent is an essential part of the ethical treatment of health promotion program participants. This is true whether or not you plan to use data collected in the program in a research study. Fill in the “Informed Consent Template” to support a hypothetical educational program you might develop to address the objective you wrote and others like it. While much of the information you include in this template will have to be fictitious, consider the contents of a program intervention you may one day create to address similar needs and objectives. Each of the items on the template is an important part of a complete informed consent and must be responded to. Click on “Sample Informed Consent” to see a sample (included below).

1. There is a wide variety of perspectives and frameworks from which to practice nursing. After reading the various framework and theories presented, which most closely matches your beliefs? Please explain why?

2. After reading the Nurse of the future: Nursing core competencies on page 84, please describe how you plan to apply these 10 core competencies into your daily Nursing practice. Please be sure to address all 10 competencies and give specific examples.

The article “Implementing electronic health records in hospitals: a systematic literature review” went into detail on how and why the literature review set parameters and initially ended up with 364 potential articles for the study. They continued to add more parameters and until it ended with only 21 articles for the study. Although Pettigrew’s framework for understanding strategic change, includes context, content, and process , according to Bonnstra, Versluis, & Vos (2014) their review is specifically aimed at identifying findings related to the implementation process, possible motives for introducing Electronic Health Records (EHR), as well as its effects and outcomes, are outside its scope. The authors spent a great deal of time and provide detail findings on the context and content. To keep readers, focus on what their review is specifically focused on, and to improve the article. Eliminating the “how” they determined to the 21 articles that was reviewed and the findings of the context and content would make this a much easier read.
