Because of the uncertainty that blood had been transferred from the physician’s hand wound to the patient through an open surgical incision, he agreed to have a blood test for HIV. Having a serious, chronic illness is tough in itself. Having a such illness that isn’t covered under health insurance when a patient has struggled financially adds another element that may result in significant physical, mental and emotional repercussions. Likewise, some insurance doesn’t cover many of the nutritional and herbal supplements and compounded medications that offer chronic illness patients a sense of relief. 

That being said, I pose the following question to you: What are some alternatives for patients to consider when their insurance does not cover treatment for certain ailments or holistic options?
