Watch Video5 Psychology Experiments You Couldn’t Do Today

Duration: 10:55
User: n/a – Added: 9/11/16

Choose one of the five studies discussed in the video. (You can explore other websites/articles/sources to find out more about the study).

Give some thought to the following questions and post your response in the DB:

  • In a couple of sentences, summarize what took place in the study.
  • Address the following:
    • Why do you believe the participants took part in this study?
    • What ethical principles were violated in this research study?
    • Would an experiment such as this be conducted today? Why or why not?

Your initial post must be posted before you can view and respond to colleagues, must contain minimum of two (2) references, in addition to examples from your personal experiences to augment the topic. The goal is to make your post interesting and engaging so others will want to read/respond to it. Synthesize and summarize from your resources in order to avoid the use of direct quotes, which can often be dry and boring. No direct quotes are allowed in the discussion board posts.

Post a thoughtful response to at least two (2) other colleagues’ initial postings. Responses to colleagues should be supportive and helpful (examples of an acceptable comment are: “This is interesting – in my practice, we treated or resolved (diagnosis or issue) with (x, y, z meds, theory, management principle) and according to the literature…” and add supportive reference. Avoid comments such as “I agree” or “good comment.”

discussion form on Enhancing Treatment Integrity in School-Based Interventions

Question

In the realm of special education, ensuring treatment integrity—the faithful implementation of evidence-based interventions—is paramount for the success of interventions designed to support students with autism. For this discussion, we will focus on insights from Strohmeier et al. (2014) and Stahmer et al. (2014).

In addition to these foundational texts, incorporate insights from at least two additional peer-reviewed journal articles that contribute to the discourse on treatment integrity in school-based interventions.

Discussion Questions:

Social Validity Assessment: Reflect on the findings presented by Strohmeier et al. (2014) regarding the social validity assessment of training methods. According to the participants, what were the most acceptable and effective methods for improving treatment integrity? How might these findings inform the design of training programs for special education service providers?

Procedural Implementation Fidelity: Analyze the study by Stahmer et al. (2014) that examines procedural implementation fidelity of evidence-based practices for students with autism. What were the key factors influencing teachers’ ability to implement these practices with fidelity? How can educators be supported in reaching and maintaining moderate procedural implementation fidelity over time?

Intersection of Insights: Explore the intersection of insights from both sources. How might the preferences identified in social validity assessments impact the design of training programs aimed at improving procedural implementation fidelity? What considerations should be taken into account to align training methods with the unique needs and preferences of special education service providers?

  1. Additional Research Contributions: Summarize insights from two additional peer-reviewed journal articles you selected. How do these articles contribute to our understanding of enhancing treatment integrity in school-based interventions? Identify any emerging trends, challenges, or innovative strategies discussed in the literature.

    • Online data collection – gather data from the weblinks provided on the template
      • Please note, if you live in Washington D.C. it may be listed as a state or county. You may list the Washington D.C. data as state and county, then compare to the U.S. data.
    • Modified windshield survey data collection – gather local community data by physically looking at your community
      • If possible, plan on asking someone to drive during your survey so that you can take notes.
      • Your community should be the area where you live or the area surrounding your work. The community must include a residential area and be a large enough area to answer the survey questions. If you live in a large area, you may choose a suburb.
      • Note:?It is helpful to conduct this portion of the assessment at least two different times: during the day or evening, on a weekday, and/or on the weekend.
  5. Identify a nursing problem (nursing diagnosis) based on data and observations

Tolerance and Diversity

QUESTION

Tolerance and Diversity

Scenario 2: Cultural Differences

You are part of a group project, and one of your team members comes from a different cultural background. Their approach to teamwork and communication is significantly different from yours. How do you handle these differences?

When someone from another culture celebrates a holiday or tradition that is unfamiliar to you, what steps can you take to learn more about it and show respect for their customs?

Scenario 3: Gender and Identity

In your office both females and males are working, what could be done to let everyone feel accepted and have equity.

How can you avoid making assumptions about people’s gender, gender expression, and instead promote an inclusive environment?

Scenario 5: Accessibility and Disability

You have a classmate who has a disability and may require accommodations. How can you be understanding and supportive of their needs in the academic environment?

In public spaces, such as the university campus, how can you contribute to making them more accessible and inclusive for individuals with disabilities?

Scenario 6: Language and Communication

You have a classmate whose first language is not English, and they occasionally struggle with communication. How can you help them without coming across as patronizing or insensitive?

What steps can you take to improve your own communication skills when interacting with people who speak a different language or have varying language proficiencies?

Scenario 7: Socioeconomic Differences

You have friends from varying socioeconomic backgrounds. How can you be mindful of these differences and avoid making anyone uncomfortable or excluded based on financial constraints?

What can you do to promote economic inclusivity and support students who may be facing financial challenges in your university community?

Protocol for Evidence Collection

QUESTION

Law enforcement officers and crime scene technicians must use caution and protect themselves at all times from contracting AIDS or hepatitis. Bodily fluids must always be treated as though they were infectious. Crime scene technicians most often use dust particle masks or N-95 masks at routine crime scenes. They are considered the most common type of respiratory protection. These masks are considered to be disposable and should be discarded after one use.

It is imperative that all personnel involved in entering and processing the crime scene wear personal protective equipment (PPE). This consists of items of clothing that are non-porous, such as crime scene suits, nitrile gloves (double gloving recommended), face masks, and eye protection. These items will protect the CSI from exposure to blood-borne pathogens, most chemical and drug residues, and other contaminants that are health hazards. In addition, hair nets and booties over the shoes will help avoid contamination of the crime scene.

Research the following points, and write a paper fully explaining each point:

Identify and explain 4 exceptions to the exclusionary rule established by the U.S. Supreme Court that allow for the search and/or seizure of evidence without a warrant.

Patent medicines used to be dispensed by pharmacists in powder form using a pharmacist’s or druggist’s fold. Explain this method of packaging and why it has been adopted by Crime Scene Investigators for packaging trace evidence.

  • How should investigators handle trace evidence that is stuck on an object found at the crime scene? Explain the exception to this procedure.
  • When a motor vehicle, boat, or aircraft is present, what special considerations should the Crime Scene Investigator take?

Conclusion part for a project

QUESTION

You or your team will turn in a short report. This means you should write in full sentences, and have the following sections for each question, while being as specific as you can about your results: I. Introduction. State the question you are trying to answer, why it is a question of interest (why might we be interested in the answer), and what approach you are going to take (just the name of the approach). II. Summary of your data. This should include things like plots (histograms, boxplots) including the interpretation of the plots, and summary values such as sample means and standard deviations. You should have an idea about the trend of the data from this section. III. Diagnostics. You should discuss your assumptions here, and if you believe they are violated. Perform diagnostics for the model. If you believe assumptions are violated, note this and continue with the project. Do not consider transformation of variables for this topic. IV. Analysis. Report back the “best” model (and how you chose that as the best), confidence intervals, test-statistic/s, and p-value/s, nulls and alternatives, etc. You may use tables here, but be sure that you organize your work. Remember to write your results in full sentences where possible. V. Interpretation. State your conclusion, and what inference you may draw from your corresponding tests or confidence intervals, and any other useful statistics you may have calculated. These should all be interpreted in terms of your problem. VI. Conclusion. Summarize briefly your findings. Here you do not have to re-iterate your numeric values, but summarize all relevant conclusions.

leadership DB M

QUESTION

Overview

Workplace violence against nurses is a major challenge for healthcare leaders. Common types of violence such as physical harm, sexual abuse, aggression, mobbing and bullying can occur from patients, family and co-workers.

For this discussion, you will use information from your assigned readings, the self-paced tutorial and the literature to discuss the following in a discussion board post.

What impact does workplace violence have on nurses, other clinical staff and the organization as a whole? Be specific and provide rationale.

How is workplace violence addressed in your organization, i.e. policies, protocols, training. Be specific.  Is it sufficient?  What else could be done?

What are the legal and ethical implications for the nurse leader if workplace violence occurs on their unit(s)?

  • Your initial post must be posted before you can view and respond to colleagues, must contain minimum of two (2) references, in addition to examples from your personal experiences to augment the topic. Synthesize and summarize from your resources in order to avoid the use of direct quotes, which can often be dry and boring. No direct quotes are allowed in the discussion board posts.
  • Post a thoughtful response to at least two (2) other colleagues’ initial postings.

Journal Critique: Community-Based Supports and Services

Question

INSTRUCTIONS

? Articles must present original research (quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods, or
meta-analysis are acceptable). Do not choose articles that argue a position but don’t
present new research. These are important articles but don’t help you build the skills you
will need to successfully complete a dissertation
? When composing your reviews, practice using graduate professional writing. Do not
begin with “This article is about…” and don’t relate your personal stories.
? Current APA format must be used, including:
o A title page,
o A reference page, and
o Writing in third-person. Avoid “I” statements or personal stories. The reader
knows something is your opinion because you are the one writing it. You don’t
need to statements like “I think that …”, or “I believe …”
? Critiques must be 2–5 pages in length, not including the title page or reference page.
The following general format should be followed:
? Statement of the problem: What is the issue this research is trying to address? You need
to make a case for why the research is important based upon the background information
provided in the article. For example, when reviewing an article about a new reading
methods instruction you could report poor student reading outcomes.
? Statement of a research question: The research question is almost always found in the
paragraph directly before the methods section. The research question is a clear, one-
sentence explanation of what the researchers wanted to find out in their research. How
will this research expand what we know about SPED?
? Methods: In this section, you need to explain how the researchers conducted their study
to answer the research question. Who participated in the study? What did they do? How
was the data collected?
