Young Children and Technology

Question Description

Young Children and Technology

In today’s technology-driven society where it is not uncommon to see a baby or toddler using an iPad, many early childhood experts agree that certain kinds of technology are not developmentally appropriate for children under the age of 3. For this discussion, begin by completing the Technology Sort Activity above, where you will determine the appropriateness of different types of technology for different ages. Then, in your post:

  1. Discuss your experience with the sorting activity (e.g. Did anything surprise you? Was there anything you disagreed with? etc.)
  2. Describe the effect of technology on infant/toddler cognitive and social-emotional development.
  3. Identify two to three appropriate ways to utilize technology with young children and two to three inappropriate ways.
