Understanding what your opposition thinks about your topic is very important to creating a sound argument. All arguments worth making should be able to have a reasonable person disagree. It is vital that you acknowledge and respect your opposition, even though they do not hold the same ideals as you do.

For this exercise, find one quality source that disagrees with your side of your topic. Write 300 words both summarizing the main argument made in the source and explaining how you would specifically counter this argument. Remember that you need to speak with authority toward your opposition but maintain a respectful tone; if you show disdain or write like you think they are dumb, they are unlikely to see things your way.
